So, I finally paid a visit to Lumi on Mckinney Ave... and as the title of the blog says... they were the BEST creative, tasty tapas I've had. I didn't make it inside the eatery; my friend and I sat outside on their patio, so I can't really comment on the interiors. But the outside patio was cozy. The wooden chairs could use some padding, but it wasn't terrible. My friend ordered the Mango Martini and I ordered Rose's Ginger Limeade. Both were delicious. And it took us a while to decide on drinks because the rest of the cocktail menu had some interesting options. The food menu had a lot of pork items, so we stuck to the non-pork ones (since I don't eat the swine). We ordered the shrimp jalapeno eggrolls and coconut chicken curry dumplings (pan seared). Each dish came with the dipping sauce. The eggrolls had a perfect whole shrimp in it with the tail sticking out. Pick it up with the tail, dip in the jalapeno sauce and dive it into your mouth. The sauce was slightly sweet with a definite kick to it. And it blended perfectly with the shrimp in the eggroll. Then arrived the dumplings. The dumpling itself was very good. Perfectly pan-seared. For the accompanying sauce, I have one word... OMFG! It was ridiculously good. Probably the best fusion Asian coconut curry I've had... ever! And I am Indian, with lots of Southeast Asian friends, so that says a lot. So, save up some money and go splurge at Lumi. Tapas were between $8-$12 and drinks were $8-ish.
