Birthday, BBQ, Bar Food and Cake Overload

So, thank God my faith in Miggity was restored Thursday, because Friday was my birthday. And it was wonderful :-) I met Miggity in the afternoon and we headed into downtown and ate at Dr. Bell's BBQ. A quirky but clean interior with metal aluminum chairs and aluminum lights. Miggity ordered a chopped beef sandwich and I ordered the shredded beef tacos. I found it really good. The homemade BBQ sauce was peppery and a bit sweet/spicy. Not over sweet and thick like supermarket BBQ sauces. This was much better.
Straight after that came Tres leches cake from Fiesta. This was followed by 2 hours of Kyle XY (our new favourite couple activity). Later that night his friends came over (with more cake from Eatzi's JoJo got) and we went across to Victor Tango's- ate, drank and got merry! The bar food was eclectic, but not especially good. The drinks were good. And I got a lovely 3-tier pastry stand from Crate & Barrel from Barbara, Dave and Mike. It was just a wonderful day... and Miggity was wonderful as usual.
Miggity bought my a non-serrated knife for my birthday (I had predicted he'd get me that :-P The next day we finished off by going to the Meyerson to listen/watch the Dallas Symphony Orchestra play Romeo & Juliet. It was just wonderful. Of course there was cake being eaten at regular intervals. I swear I'm almost sick from the overload.

  1. I think once they start buying you presents you're allowed to call them, "our friends". ;-) I'm glad you had such a happy birthday!
